Going Beyond Oneself

Is there a need to go beyond ourselves? What holds us back, to live and experience spaces *beyond*?

Our 'perception' is limited by our state of *awareness*, that depends on our still primitive condition of our evolution as humans. What we see as 'understanding' within our perception, is just the way we put every thing into boxes, comparing it with already stored knowledge. This established knowledge comes out of what people were encountering since beginning of humankind and always was interpreted out of the existing more or less primitive awareness, so what came out of it was mostly a misinterpretation and that was then giving the present result of our self created reality and what humans have made to their base of living. Not having even an idea about how much their 'knowledge' is the result of manipulation during centuries and up to our present times! This misleading perception, forming our 'knowledge' as a common established mindset, is governing all relating in people's daily life! *Truth* hardly exist, as every response comes out as a reaction triggered by ones mostly unconscious properties, mentally and emotionally. That is causing constant disappointment, frustration and stress, as our established world view and our self image is not confirmed by our daily encountered reality. People don't understand the reason for this, giving always the fault to the outside. They don't want to understand, because they are holding on their established view, being identified with it and getting their feeling of *existence* out of it...
This blocks our understanding, we don't want to understand, otherwise we would need to look at ourselves and realise that we are stuck in a 'straitjacket'  of our own mindset that builds up our personality.

Let's see, what my friend Diogenes says about this:

A young man contemplating marriage sought advice from Diogenes.

"Should I marry?"
"Marriage is too soon for a young man"
"Would you have me wait then until I am old."
"Oh no, Marriage is far too late for an old man."
"What am I to do then? I love the girl."
"Love is a luxury no one can afford. It is for those who have nothing better to do."
"What should we be doing then?"
"To seek freedom. But it is not possible to be free if you have a wife and children."
"But having a wife and family is so agreeable."
"Then you see the problem, young man. Freedom would not be so difficult to attain were prison not so sweet."
"You mean to be free is to be alone?"
"We come into the world alone and we die alone. Why, in life, should we be any less alone?"
"To live, then, is terrible."
"No, not to live, but to live in chains."

Diogenes was a lonely advanced human being who had realised spaces that go beyond any mental knowledge, he was not able to explain it to ordinary people other then express himself in a some times absurd and irrational way, because it is just not possible to give any clear information about something that is not part of the common knowledge. He was referring to the 'chains' in that every
body is tied up by being identified with ones established mindset, that is containing all those concepts, beliefs and knowledge, delivered by our society, - since beginning of humankind. Out of this peoples personality is built up and out of this they are getting their feeling of existence. This is the 'prison'. There is nothing else and also nothing else really wanted, because people are sooo busy maintaining their state of being. There is an urge and longing, but they can't find 'freedom' when just turning around themselves. In the state of evolution humans are at this moment, only a very few are able to look beyond this limiting condition. Some realised individuals during history have tried to share their experience going beyond the usual, with the intention to help people, to get out of their limitation, being bound to their body, mind and emotions, but those 'teacher' never were really understood, even though they had followers, - probably because of their special energy they represented. That always attracts followers, so they don't need to be responsible for themselves...

Diogenes probably didn't even try to make things clear, knowing that what ever is offered and expressed, is interpreted out of peoples limited mindset. The established 'property' will always be defended, every thing that doesn't confirm oneself will be ignored or rejected. Nothing has changed up to our days...

Do you remember the story about Diogenes, when he was walking in daytime through the streets with a burning lantern. When being ask what he was doing, he answered: "I am looking for humans to enlighten them!" People just laughed and probably said: Look at this crazy guy, he is out of his mind...
You see: He had to express himself, even knowing that nobody would understand him, - but at least he could avoid to be killed, as it happened to Socrates and others...

But does this answer the question: 'What holds us back, to live and experience spaces beyond ourselves?' Probably not, because that would mean that we question ourselves and our 'reality'. Of course we have doubts and questions! There is a long tradition of it and the same long tradition to answer and satisfy these questions out of the well established belief and philosophical mind system. But indeed it happens, that this is not enough and some very rare individuals continue having doubts. Because they have been observing themselves and their surroundings and came to the result, that one can't trust any body and not even oneself. One can see, that manipulation has been used since beginning of humankind from some clever guys, holding people in dependency to use them for ones own purpose.

Why can't one even trust oneself? Because we are all running under the same program. All comes out of the same big 'mindset-soup'. We are all the same feeding ourselves from it! With the difference, that we have chosen certain parts of it and made to our property. Then we can go into the *existence* giving game, to defend ourselves and fighting against others with a different set up. Similar being identified with one specific football team, but the game is the same. People are getting their excitement out of it, so better don't say anything against it, you might get beaten up!

So the question: ''What holds us back, to live and experience spaces beyond ourselves?" is still not answered. Yes, it is answered! People are identified with their property, that is their established mindset, containing all their concepts about every thing in their life: What they know, what they believe, their self image, their dreams, their fantasies and all what is connected with these. This is every bodies 'property' and with this they are identified. This makes ones 'personality'. This gives the feeling of *existence* as the most important! So it becomes clear, that it is nearly impossible to let go of all, to go *beyond*.

Why one should go *beyond*? If one is content with what one has, then of course there is no need to change this, except that one might want more of what one has. But we know from our life, that we are not really content, as there is always something missing, although we don't know exactly what this is. If frustration, disappointment and pain is accumulating and can't be suppressed any more, then indeed one wants to leave all this behind to go into another space. We might have tried to jump over our own shadow and it has shown, that this is impossible!

Life goes on. It seems that, even though we struggle and fight, we can't change something significant about our daily life conditions. Depression and disease are taking over ones life. We have used all tricks available to survive. It seems, we are falling apart... Still we are getting our feeling of *existence* out of it. We are identified with our suffering and pain and in so far there seems to be no such a difference from being identified with the experience of excitement and joy. So it seems obvious that we can't do any thing. So what? Might have come the moment not to worry any more? To find a new attitude by realising the basic fact that one *exist* and from there gaining the *trust* that what ever shows up in ones life, might be just the right thing and one can - without judging -, just take it as what it is and relate to it and then respond in the best way one is capable, by being responsible for oneself and also for the situation.

This will be a significant step and from there a new perspective will open up. We don't need to ask ourselves, what this might be, then filling this gap with philosophical or other answers. Now we are responding more direct to life and daily life. What is it that still seems to stand in the way? You are right: It is always the same! We are under the program of our personality! That is installed in our personal mindset and this is mostly unconscious. What means that it is not visible for us and so it seems not to exist. But it exist! And often we feel like in a 'straitjacket': We can't move freely and we are reacting out of this!

Now a new question shows up: How can I get out of my 'straitjacket'? How can I become aware of my unconscious background, that is influencing me so strong in my relationship with *life*? This might sound difficult, but to practise it is pretty simple: The best way to become aware of your unconscious background structure, is to observe your reactions, these are showing up like automatically and often so strong that you can't hold it back. Now you know what is causing these reactions and so just observe these. Then after some time, you will be able to observe your reactions, even before these are showing up and then also you might recognise, from where these are coming from and what is the originally cause. This might be an influence or happening in your early life, as a result of your education or social behaviour trip. Then you might drop this or keep it, but without the need to react out of it.

That's it! The best is, that we all can use our daily life exactly how it is. We don't need certain conditions or special places. We can have the trust, that what ever shows up in our daily life, is exactly the right thing in the process to free ourselves. Then we will be able to go *beyond ourselves*! And - experience what that *really* means!

I didn't read your article in details, but i think it get your point and i always think same like that... there rarely only one reason, one truth, but more, we just don't know them, and what we don't know doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Well, I must say, that I'm not really 'back'. This article is a test to see if there is any response that shows that my writing has any sense. I left several Internet places, because in several years there haven't been any feedback or exchange about questions coming out of my writings. I don't see yet this will be different here, but I would like to be surprised...

So please tell me if you can get out something...

A great piece. Thorough and exhaustive. Almost like a text. I truly appreciate the ideas you present here. The recommendations from Search Warp are for about 2000 words. Try for this condensation and you might like the expression that comes from this length. Excellent work.
